Terms of Use
Last updated November 1, 2026
In plain terms. This site gives you a free solar estimate for a Florida property and, if you ask, sends your request to state-licensed solar contractors that serve your address, who pay us for the introduction. Estimates are best-case figures with the full range disclosed; they are not quotes, offers or financial advice. Any contract you sign is with the contractor, not with us.
These terms are an agreement between you and Florida Solar Estimate (“we”, “us”). By using this website you accept them and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Who we are
Florida Solar Estimate is an independent business. We are not a solar contractor, an electric utility, a lender, a government agency or an agent of any of them. We hold no Florida contractor license because we do not design, sell, finance or install solar equipment, and we do not endorse any contractor.
2. Using the site
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You may request an estimate only for a property you own, lease or are authorized to act for, and you may ask for contractor contact only for yourself.
- You agree to enter accurate information. The estimate is only as good as the address and usage you give it.
- You may not scrape, crawl, bulk-query or reverse-engineer the site, run automated requests against it, resell its output, or use it to obtain information about other people's properties.
3. Estimates are estimates
Our figures come from public data, third-party models and the information you enter: your utility's published rates and export rules, a solar-yield model, Google's roof data for your property, published installed-cost data, and the incentives in force on the date shown. We present best-case figures (system size for full offset, “as low as” cost and payback, “up to” savings) and disclose the full range and every assumption beneath them. Read that disclosure; it is part of the estimate.
- An estimate is not an offer, quote, contract, system design, engineering assessment, or tax, legal or financial advice. Your actual costs, production and savings will differ, and may differ a lot.
- We do not guarantee any price, production, savings, payback period or incentive. Future utility rates are estimates; tax treatment depends on your own situation and on laws that change; consult a tax professional before relying on it.
- We do not offer financing and nothing on this site is an offer or advertisement of credit. If a contractor offers financing or a lease, its disclosures and the lender's govern.
- Installed-cost and savings data are reviewed on the date printed in the footer and may be out of date.
4. Bill uploads and AI reading
You may upload a photo or PDF of a utility bill to improve the estimate. By uploading it you confirm that the bill is for the property you entered and that you are entitled to share it. An AI model reads the figures from the bill and the image is then discarded; we never store it, and we do not extract the account number or the account holder's name. Like any reader it can make mistakes, so check the figures it shows you before you continue, and treat every number produced from them as an estimate. Bills are handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
5. Requesting quotes from contractors
If you check the consent box and confirm your mobile number, we send your request to state-licensed solar contractors that serve your address, and they pay us for it. The consent wording you see at that step is part of these terms. What you should expect:
- The contractors are independent businesses. We do not control what they offer, and we do not guarantee that any contractor will contact you, make an offer, or honor the figures in your estimate.
- Any proposal, contract, warranty, lease or financing is solely between you and the contractor. Read it before you sign.
- You can withdraw your consent at any time by replying STOP to a text, by any other reasonable means, or on Your Privacy Rights. Consent is never a condition of buying anything.
Text messages. When you ask for quotes we text you a one-time verification code, and we may text you a link to your estimate. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply; reply STOP to end or HELP for help. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
6. Your protections as a Florida solar buyer
- Licensed contractors only. Florida requires rooftop solar to be installed by a state-licensed contractor: a certified solar contractor (license numbers begin CVC), a certified electrical contractor (EC), or a general, building or residential contractor using one of those for the electrical work (Florida Statutes 489.105). We send your request only to contractors that hold such a license, and you can verify any license at MyFloridaLicense.com before you sign.
- Three business days to cancel. If you sign a contract for more than $25 somewhere other than the seller's regular place of business (your home, for example), Florida's home-solicitation law lets you cancel it until midnight of the third business day after signing by written notice (Florida Statutes 501.025); the contract must tell you so.
- Written disclosures on financed and leased systems. A contractor selling, leasing or financing a residential solar system must give you a separate written disclosure of the total cost including interest and fees, the payment schedule, the system's size and expected production, the assumptions behind any savings claim, warranties, who owns any credits, and any lien, and you may rescind within three business days (Florida Statutes 520.20 to 520.26). Systems paid in full at installation are exempt.
- Your association cannot say no. The Solar Rights Act (Florida Statutes 163.04) voids any deed restriction or homeowners' association rule that prohibits solar collectors; an association may direct where they go only if that does not impair performance and stays within 45° of due south.
- Problems. Report deceptive solar sales to the Florida Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division and unlicensed contracting to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and tell us too at mtsolarestimate@gmail.com; we remove contractors that mistreat the people we introduce.
7. Google Maps
This site includes Google Maps features and content. Your use of those features and content is subject to the then-current Google Maps End User Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. Roof data is from Google's Solar API and may be incomplete or out of date for your building; the imagery date is shown with it.
8. Our content and yours
The site, its design, text, graphics, model and code are ours or our licensors' and are protected by copyright and trademark law. You may download and share the PDF estimate for your own property. You keep ownership of the bill and information you give us and grant us the limited right to use them to provide the service described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimers and limits on liability
The site and every estimate are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent the law allows, Florida Solar Estimate and its owners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or for any decision you make or contract you sign in reliance on an estimate or a contractor, and our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to one hundred dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these limits; where that is so, they apply to the extent permitted.
10. Changes, law and contact
We may update these terms by posting a new version with a new date; your continued use after that is acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Montana, where we are organized, and applicable federal law, without affecting the Florida consumer protections described above, and any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Montana. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Questions: mtsolarestimate@gmail.com.
